Catalan newspaper Sport continue their see-saw claims on Pau Lopez to Tottenham Hotspur. In the past month it’s been reported by Sport that Tottenham are trying to drag Espanyol down on price, not wanting to pay the already agreed €7m clause and being tough in negotiations.

Espanyol obviously weren’t very happy about that situation, but then Sport reported that talks hadn’t even started ahead of the summer, despite claiming the opposite previously, and that everything was calm and on hold for closer to the window.

On Thursday Sport have an article which treats Pau joining Tottenham as a sure thing, matter of fact, something already sorted out. The context is Roberto, the man who was set to take Pau’s place but ended up being pushed aside by Diego Lopez, who has become something of a favourite.

Diego Lopez is on loan from Milan and Espanyol are trying to buy him. The Pau funds will help, and also Roberto looks like he’s off. This all leaves Espanyol looking for a new back-up goalkeeper, and if they can’t find a deal with Milan, they may be looking for 2 stoppers, or even three.

Should Espanyol fail with their Diego Lopez attempts, perhaps it’s not worth ruling out some complicated deal which sees Pau back at the Spanish club for a season, and Vorm seeing out his Spurs contract.
