Tottenham Hotspur are named today as serious competitors for the signing of AS Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo.

It’s Italian newspaper Tuttosport who says Spurs are well positioned in the race, and would harm Juventus’ chances of landing the player.

The Old Lady’s plans were to wait until the summer, since the midfielder’s price may drop. That’s because Roma will not make many efforts to hold him in case they don’t qualify for the Champions League.

But Juventus are now afraid they may be too late for the signing, because Tottenham’s idea is to act as soon as possible and avoid competition from both the Old Lady and Manchester City.

Tottenham are said to be planning to put €50m on the table, which would be a club record, and their attempt is described as ‘imminent’.

Meanwhile, Juventus, who also need to sell players and make cash for new signings, are afraid they may take too long and lose Zaniolo to the London side.
