Tottenham Hotspur are in talks for a new contract with Hugo Lloris, according to reports today.
Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web writes that the possibility of a renewal ‘surprisingly’ reopens, as there’s now the chance the goalkeeper could stay for at least another year.
The report claims the contacts will happen in the first weeks of January, with Lloris’ entourage receiving a proposal from Spurs, and then it will be the Frenchman who will have the last word.
TuttoMercatoWeb claims that 34-year-old could end up staying in London ‘even if another goalkeeper arrives’, mentioning Tottenham’s interest in Everton’s Jordan Pickford.
Of course it’s always a little odd to see the Italian media breaking news regarding a French goalkeeper who plays in England, even though TuttoMercatoWeb wouldn’t just label it as an exclusive for nothing.
Lloris has 13 appearances for Tottenham this season, most of them in the Premier League, while Pierluigi Gollini has been getting a few chances to play as well.
The Frenchman’s contract with the club expires in the summer.
