Real Madrid are having big problems finding the back of the net this season, and it’s showing in their results.
Currently fourth in a packed together La Liga leading six, Madrid are only one point behind Barcelona, but it’s their goal drought which is encouraging the idea of a crisis situation.
Los Blancos haven’t scored for the past four matches, and with Cristiano Ronaldo leaving for Juventus in the summer window it’s put everything under even more focus.
El Confidencial have used the situation to talk up Eden Hazard and Harry Kane being brought back into the picture as targets.
Whilst Hazard’s desire to move to Real Madrid hasn’t been under question, and in Spain it’s though to be more Florentino Perez who was hesitating, the Tottenham player has long seemed too hard to get.
El Confidencial think Spurs’ start to the season could change that. It’s explained that them qualifying for the next stage of the Champions League now looks very difficult, and as well as that being a ‘sporting fiasco’, it would provide a ‘serious economic stumble’ for the club.
Therefore, a winter move is seen as more possible than it has been previously. It’s perhaps a long shot, but El Confidencial clearly believe if Tottenham fail with their Champions League quest then financial pressure would make a Kane sale likelier.
And that’s certainly what Real Madrid would hope for in any pursuit.
