On March 25th, Sport/Foot reported that Leicester City view Timothy Castagne as an ideal replacement for Ricardo Pereira, if the Portuguese right-back decides to leave the Foxes.
Tottenham Hotspur are now dragged into the mix as the Atalanta star has also emerged as a target for Spurs, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
Spurs manager José Mourinho is planning to strengthen his side’s right-back position for next season. The former Chelsea manager currently has the services of Serge Aurier as the only recognised player in the same position.
Japhet Tanganga can be used as a right-back, but the report states Mourinho prefers to use him in the centre-back role.
Therefore, Tottenham have had their sights on Castagne and for a ‘long time’, the Premier League side have been ‘sending signals’ to the Atalanta fullback about their interest.
The Belgium international’s contract with the Serie A side runs down in 2021 and TMW adds Castagne could leave Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in the upcoming window.
Should Castagne decide to leave Atalanta, it remains to be seen whether his next destination would be Tottenham or another club.
