Tottenham Hotspur have their eyes set on Lecce’s Joan Gonzàlez.
The 20-year-old left Barcelona and joined the Serie A side’s academy in 2021 and was then promoted to their first team at the start of this season.
Operating mainly as a central midfielder, he has managed one goal and two assists from 18 matches in all competitions this season. The Spaniard’s performances have drawn attention from Tottenham and a few other clubs across Europe.
Calciomercato have a report that states the Leece player and Spezia star Jakub Kiwior were under special observation from AC Milan when the two sides faced each other on Sunday.
As well as the Italian champions, Napoli are also interested in Gonzàlez. From abroad, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund ‘like’ him and these two clubs have already sent their scouts to Italy to ‘closely follow’ the player.
On December 6th, Gonzàlez signed a new contract until 2027. The report states Lecce are requesting ‘no less than €15m’ to sanction his sale.
For now, Tottenham are following the midfielder closely. Time should tell whether they will convert this interest into a concrete approach in the current window or next summer.
