Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo had a big splash on Tottenham Hotspur interest in Carles Alena.

Barcelona have an ‘overbooking’ problem in midfield, and someone will have to go in the coming windows, with more than one exit a distinct possibility.

Estadio Deportivo are also covering the Spurs interest, and they say the Premier League club are a ‘new competitor’ for Real Betis.

The Seville club have been interested in the 21 year old themselves, and would be looking at a loan move with a purchase option, similar to how they got Giovani Lo Celso from PSG.

It’s explained Mauricio Pochettino is driving Tottenham interest in Alena, with it again being stated the player could be a replacement for Christian Eriksen.

Real Betis are currently in La Liga’s relegation zone. Unless things improve quickly, they may not be the most attractive option.

Whilst making the move to English football would be a risk, Tottenham right now look a better option if Alena wants to play at the highest level.

Betis are also interested in Emre Can, although they could face competition from Manchester United.
