On the lookout for a new goalscorer at Tottenham, Fabio Paratici is keeping tabs on many names.
Dusan Vlahovic seems the most attainable of the big guns, even though he would likely cost over €60m, as Lautaro Martinez seems intent on staying at Inter to take over the crown unceremoniously discarded by Romelu Lukaku.
In the tier below, however, other targets have been mentioned, such as Lazio’s Joaquin Correa.
The Argentine was immediately placed on the transfer list in Rome once Maurizio Sarri took over from Simone Inzaghi, as he didn’t really fit in the 4-3-3 formation the manager likes to use.
That, combined with the fact he wouldn’t mind a new challenge after playing in Argentina, Italy and Spain, meant he was up for grabs at around €40m.
No one has met that yet, and Corriere dello Sport reckon a fee of €30m + bonuses would do the trick, but there haven’t been any takers at that price either.
Arsenal are the only ones who have come forward with a bid of around €20m, which was discarded, while other teams such as Everton, Aston Villa and Leicester City have all come and gone.
That’s why Corriere now reckon Fabio Paratici’s Tottenham might be ‘the only credible’ suitor after Correa these days.
Their logic that ‘if he doesn’t get Martinez, he would aim’ for the Lazio man.
We’ll see about that.
