The Italian media have been slightly perplexed over the past day or so about Tottenham going quiet on Arkadiusz Milik.
All kinds of excuses have been put forward, but Spurs pulling out of the race, if it can be called that, for the player’s signature hasn’t been considered.
Wednesday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport states Tottenham ‘seems the most authentic’ destination for the Napoli man right now. The Naples club are very eager to sell, not wanting to lose their player on a free transfer next year.
A move to Juventus was heavily pushed earlier in the window, and more recently a switch to AS Roma collapsed, a situation which seems to have made Milik’s relationship with Napoli grow more bitter.
PSG and Atletico Madrid have been rumoured as potential destinations, yet Corriere dismiss that as likely fantasy. To make it clear how dire the Italian newspaper think Milik’s situation is, they say all he can do now is ‘pray’ and hope a move happens.
Despite the claims Tottenham seems the standout destination, there’s no update on Spurs actually doing anything this week to get the transfer done.
