Tottenham had scouts in attendance for the recent clash between Spain’s U19s and Austria’s U19s.
That’s according to Super Deporte, who say Spurs, alongside ‘half of Europe’, were there to watch Valencia duo, Jesús Vázquez and Cristhian Mosquera.
The outlet explains that Spain’s U19 team are in the middle of a fight to reach the next European Championship, with their latest clash seeing them take on Austria.
The game ended 2-2 in an exciting encounter, and the Valencia pair both shone and put in ‘outstanding’ performances.
That’s good news for them as scouts from up to 18 of Europe’s ‘top technical secretariats’ were on hand to watch them, and Tottenham were one of them.
The belief is that the pair ‘caught the eye’ and have built on their performances at club level, where they have sporadically broken into the first-team under José Bordalás.
Both were ‘on top form’ in the clash with Austria and even came close to sealing all three points for their country with chances late in the game.
They had the ‘full attention’ of the scouts from Tottenham, as well as the likes of Atletico, Sevilla, Juventus, Milan, PSG and Dortmund, among others.
According to Super Deporte, the players’ ‘physical and technical conditions’ have not gone unnoticed by their suitors, but Valencia are calm about the situation.
Both are ‘contractually protected’ and have made it clear that their will is to stay with the Spanish club and succeed at the Mestalla.
Mosquera is tied to a deal until 2025 after renewing in January in a deal that also includes a €25m release clause. Vazquez, meanwhile, is also tied to a deal until 2025.
In other words, if Tottenham are as impressed as Super Deporte say, then they will have to pay a sizeable sum for Mosquera, and likely Vázquez as well.
