Former Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado has hailed Harry Kane, saying the Spurs star ‘is a born goalscorer’.
Soldado spent two years at Tottenham after making a £27m move from Valencia in 2013, arriving as part of the contingent of players signed to replace Gareth Bale.
His time at the club would prove to be something of a low point, with him struggling to establish himself in the first-team despite a tally of 16 goals and 11 assists in 76 games.
Part of the problem was the emergence of Kane, who had made his Premier League debut for Tottenham the previous year under Andre Villas-Boas but had something of a breakthrough year in 2013/14 with 12 goals and seven assists in 27.
The following year was even better with 31 goals and six assists in 51 games in all competitions as he established himself as a rising star and the key man for Spurs.
It meant Soldado found himself relegated to the bench, managing just seven starts in the league that year.
He appears to hold no animosity to Kane, though, praising his fellow striker in a recent interview with AS instead.
“He was a player from the youth setup,” he said.
“He had very good qualities, and when they started giving him minutes, he always stood out.
“He was already a goalscorer. Everything he has achieved is on his own merits, and the best thing he has is his winning mentality. He is a born goalscorer.”
