It seems Roma have no intention of triggering the release clause in the Belgian’s contract, especially as they are trying to bolster their squad elsewhere, with deals for Gonzalo Higuain and potentially Milan’s Suso being worked on.They would cost around €70m (ish) altogether, and having already spent a decent amount of money on players like Amadou Diawara and Jordan Veretout, the bank account is starting to feel the strain.
