Real Sociedad striker Willian José remains ‘on the agenda’ for Tottenham Hotspur, who are desperate to add a striker to their squad before the transfer window ends.
That’s according to El Desmarque, who say that Brazilian remains on Spurs’ radar after their attempts to sign him in the January transfer window.
José was a top target for Tottenham throughout the winter window, with it looking possible that he would end up at the club at one point.
Indeed, the striker did his best to force the move, agreeing on personal terms with José Mourinho’s side and effectively going on strike to get it over the line.
That obviously never happened, with Tottenham failing to find an agreement with Sociedad over their asking price and Spurs eventually giving up.
Their need for another striker remains, though, and El Desmarque say José is ‘on the agenda’ for several sides, including Tottenham.
They explain that Mourinho has ‘demanded’ that Daniel Levy sign another forward because he wants a companion for Harry Kane.
That is where José’s name ‘comes in’ after Tottenham saw a €20m bid rejected in January. At that time La Real weren’t interested in a sale, but that stance has changed.
You see, they’ve got their eye on Sevilla’s Carlos Fernández and selling José would ‘facilitate his arrival’ in a €20m deal.
In truth, this just feels like speculation from El Desmarque at this point. They know Spurs want a striker and feel that a return for the man they wanted in January would make sense.
It was inevitable that the striker would be linked with Spurs again this summer, though, and this may be the first of many rumours in the coming weeks.
