Tottenham Hotspur have again been dragged into the Gareth Bale situation, this time by Catalan newspaper Sport.
In a Thursday article which details, perhaps with some glee, how bad Bale’s Real Madrid situation currently is, Tottenham are presented as one of the Welshman’s options.
Spurs would ‘welcome the player with open arms’, explains Sport, but there’s a glaring problem in all of this. The Catalan newspaper don’t believe Tottenham have the right ‘resources’ to be able to convince Madrid into a sale.
It’s claimed Madrid are looking for €120m, which is ridiculous considering Sport make Bale sound like a past-it, falling to pieces, loner who lets his obsession with golf override everything.
Actually, the Spanish media’s coverage of Bale’s love of golf is itself touching upon obsession levels. It’s been blamed for his injuries and also his failure to adapt and socialise with Real Madrid teammates.
The only way Tottenham can afford Bale, explain Sport, is if they send Harry Kane to Madrid. Then the winger and a big chunk of money would go the other way.
Again, it’s a Catalan rather than Madrid leaning newspaper pushing the Kane to Real Madrid angle.
Whatever anyone in England may have you believe, Kane to Real Madrid isn’t right now, and hasn’t been, a big story for Real Madrid’s local media.
