Calciomercato.it report they’ve learned Tottenham Hotspur are ‘ready to present’ an offer for Lorenzo Pellegrini in the January window.

The 23 year old midfielder has been the subject of rumours coming from both the Italian and English media, pushing Spurs interest in a potential swoop.

An Italy international, he’s currently out with a metatarsal fracture and has been so since September.

Pellegrini’s contract with Roma runs until 2022, and ‘at the moment’ his priority is said to be staying with his boyhood club. The Giallorossi are also keen on a renewal, and intend to open talks with regards to an extension soon.

The claims are hard to believe for several reasons. Firstly, Tottenham would surely want to wait and see how Pellegrini returns from his injury.

Secondly, Calciomercato.it say the offer Spurs are readying is worth €50-60m, and that seems far too reasonable for the London club, who would never go in at close to a player’s asking price.

This could either just be the usual work of the rumour mill, or Pellegrini’s agent doing some work to help with pressuring Roma when it comes to renewal figures.
