Tottenham are ready to pay the €50m clause in Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae’s contract to secure him early next summer.
That’s according to journalist Raffaele Auriemma, who insists that Tottenham are very much keen on adding the defender to their backline.
Kim has been impressing for Napoli since signing for the Italian side in an €18.05m deal from Fenerbahce in the summer.
He’s quickly established himself as the replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly, who left to join Chelsea this summer, with a series of impressive performances in both Serie A and the Champions League.
That’s seen him quickly linked with a move away, with several Premier League sides thought to be keeping a close eye on his performances.
Tottenham are one of them, with questions still remaining over their defence and current manager Antonio Conte thought to be keen to improve it.
Kim would represent such an improvement based on his performances this season and Auriemma insists they are ready to pay for the centre-back.
“Speaking of strong players, let’s talk about Min-Jae Kim,” Tutto Napoli report him saying.
“I’m receiving worrying information regarding the possibility that someone could enforce the clause worth €50m because there is the possibility from the 1st to the 15th of July to buy him by paying the rescission clause.
“Diplomacy is underway to try to extend the agreement between Napoli and the player by removing the clause. We will see if Napoli will succeed.
“In the meantime, there is already one club that has made a move, we are talking about Antonio Conte’s Tottenham, who have made it known that they are ready to pay that €50m clause so that two South Koreans can play together: Kim and Son.
“This confirms how the Premier League is fertile ground for this type of footballer.”
