It’s back. After a few months of silence, the rumours linking Tottenham Hotspur to Marcelo Brozovic have returned to the Italian press.
This time, it’s the website Tutto Mercato Web who are claiming that Spurs would be prepared to offer around €25m for the player.
The outlet claims this would be a good chance for Inter Milan to make some money with an ‘excellent sale’. The Croatian midfielder was a subject of much speculation last summer, having been strongly linked to a move to Chelsea as well.
Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino were also repeatedly linked to the player, and it was considered Inter would consider a sale. That’s not because Brozovic isn’t good enough for them, but Inter often consider selling anything that isn’t nailed down, to give them more to spend on other players they can also then sell.
Brozovic signed a contract extension last December, which now ties him to the Milan club until 2021. The Croatian international was signed on loan from Dinamo Zagreb for €3m in 2015, and then bought permanently for a further €5m last summer.
At this stage Tottenham interest wouldn’t seem to be serious, regardless of what TMW say, but Brozovic is a talented player and it would be no surprise if the 24 year old is somewhere on a Pochettino list.
