Exit Wolverhampton, enter Tottenham.

That’s pretty much the bottom line of Gazzetta dello Sport’s update on the Joao Mario situation on Wednesday, claiming that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have crawled their way back among the throngs of suitors below the Portugal international’s balcony.

The Italian newspaper state Spurs ‘informed themselves on the player’s situation’ over the past few days, as they look to make their first signing of the transfer window.

Tottenham join the likes of West Ham, who wouldn’t mind having Mario back on loan, Everton and Leicester City as the Premier League sides keen on the 25-year-old, but not on a permanent transfer.

According to Gazzetta, every interested side would only want the midfielder on a loan with a view to buy, which Inter aren’t particularly keen on.

That might change down the line, as we edge ever closer to the English deadline day on August 9th, but for now, they’re still crossing every crossable part of their body, hoping for a €25m bid.

We just hope they don’t pull anything.
