Tottenham are pushing to sign Genoa’s Radu Drăgușin next month, but the Italian side are trying to ‘postpone’ his exit until the summer.
That’s according to Primo Canale, a local Genoa source, who cover the potential transfer today as Tottenham continue to be linked with his signature.
Spurs are believed to be on the hunt for a new centre-back in the January transfer window having suffered in that department so far this season.
They had appeared set in the position but a long-term injury to Micky van Ven has shown the lack of depth in Ange Postecoglou’s squad, something they’re looking to rectify in January.
That’s seen them linked to Drăgușin and Primo Canale provide the latest on that front now.
They say that Tottenham’s ‘pressure’ for the defender ‘should be noted’ but Genoa would like to ‘postpone’ any potential negotiations until June at the earliest to avoid ‘dangerously weakening’ themselves in a crucial part of the squad while they’re fighting relegation.
Tottenham, though, are having none of that and are pushing to have the player in their squad as early as January.
They seem more than willing to pay what is required, which at this point is around €30m, but may be significantly higher if Genoa continue to refuse to do a deal and need further convincing.
