We’re not really shocked to see Gareth Bale being linked to a Real Madrid exit once again, although we admit we didn’t expect this rumour to be out so early in the season.
AS writes that the player is unhappy for being left out of the Champions League clash against Club Brugge last week. Although Zinedine Zidane said he was injured, his entourage claims the opposite.
That’s why the Welshman would be looking for a way out of Santiago Bernabeu, and it turns out that his former club Tottenham Hotspur would be a possible destination.
Bale’s options are limited because of his salary, which is said to be €14.5m per year. The only major league who could pay something close to that is the Premier League.
The other clubs who could land Bale would come from China or the MLS, while Bayern Munich is an option which ‘shouldn’t be ruled out’.
AS says that Tottenham are now back making signings after having paid for their new stadium, and their situation in the Premier League should convince them to make big buys in the summer.
It’s thought Mauricio Pochettino’s side could afford the deal, but would still want Bale to take a pay cut.
Real Madrid’s stance on the situation, however, isn’t even considered in the story.
