Every summer the Cristian Tello transfer rumours are wheeled out and every summer Premier League clubs are linked. On Monday, Catalan newspaper Sport linked Tello with Liverpool, saying manager Jurgen Klopp is a fan of the player.
Neither of the reports from the Catalan media mentioned Tottenham.
Italian website Calciomercato, however, did mention Tottenham in an article on Tello today. They have claimed Tello’s agent Joseph Maria Orotbig is flying to London for talks with Spurs.
The only way it makes sense is if Mauriccio Pochettino believes he can get the potential out of Tello which he spotted many years ago. When Tello was a youth at Espanyol, Pochettino was at the club and spoke more than once about the youngster’s ability.
The potential hasn’t been fulfilled and with Tello turning 25 years of age in August, the time is very much now. As it stands, it maybe looks like Southampton would be in stronger for Tello.
