Two days ago, we covered claims made by La Colina de Nervión that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘really interested’ in Jules Koundé and have made an offer worth €58m for the centre-back.
The defender’s impressive displays for Sevilla have caught the attention of several suitors, and many of them have come forward to ask about him.
Despite all of this, Estadio Deportivo now claim there are only ‘three prominent names on the table’ wanting to take the 22-year-old and they are Spurs, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
The latter two would only consider the move depending on the decision made by Raphaël Varane for his future. United are interested in the Los Blancos player, but he is not yet decided whether to continue in Madrid or make a move elsewhere.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are aware they cannot compete financially with the Red Devils and are waiting to find out what happens in the chase for Varane.
Even if Tottenham get ahead of United, they need to meet Sevilla’s demands. Although the player has a €80m release clause, the report states the Spanish club will not let him leave for less than €60m. The figure could even go as high as €70m.
Sevilla are on a tight budget and Koundé’s big money sale would help them make new signings this summer.
The competition and Sevilla’s demands, for now, would make it difficult for Tottenham to sign the Frenchman soon.
