Among the numerous things Mauricio Pochettino has insisted on during his time at Tottenham, signing young players ranks highly.

From day one the Argentine focused on signing and developing young players with Spurs and, despite having deviated from it, it remains a priority for the club.

They showed that this summer with the signing of Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke, with money also spent on youngsters such as Juan Foyth and Davinson Sánchez in the recent past as well.

And the next one they may be targeting is Matías González, with TYC Sport journalist César Luis Merlo claiming that Spurs have shown interest in the Banfield youngster.

He reports that Banfield recently offered González his first professional contract, with them rating the 17-year-old highly.

However, his agent is aware of interest from elsewhere, with Tottenham and Fiorentina having ‘probed’ him for information about the winger.

It’s not mentioned whether either club want to take their interest further than that, just that they have registered an interest in him.

Where that interest comes from in unknown, although his performances at the Evergrande Cup Sub 17, where he was named best player, and subsequent call up to Argentina’s U17s, may have something to do with it.
