Divock Origi’s father has told the Belgian media his son needs to leave Liverpool, and said a move to Tottenham Hotspur is a possibility.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is open to letting the Belgian go out on loan for the season so he can get more minutes, with chances restricted at Liverpool.

Speaking to DH.be, Mike Origi was asked about reports Anderlecht are interested, but denied links to the Belgian side: “We’ve not been contacted by Anderlecht. Divock has to leave Liverpool to get more playing time. Tottenham is a possibility, but there is also interest from France and Germany.”

It’s hard to see were Origi would fit into Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side, with Harry Kane the nailed on starter upfront, and everyone else secondary.

Repeatedly linked to Tottenham before leaving Lille for Liverpool, there’s every chance of historical interest, and perhaps there’s been an effort from either the player’s camp or Spurs to reignite that.

Origi has struggled to get games for Liverpool this season, and he didn’t make the match-day squad for yesterday’s game against Arsenal. The forward was reduced to watching Liverpool’s 4-0 victory from the stands, and its seems like he will have to go out on loan to get more playing time.

Liverpool would surely be hesitant about sending one of their players on loan to Tottenham, with Spurs a direct rival for honours and the top four.
