Still contracted to Tottenham, Giovani Lo Celso could end up being another problem for Spurs to solve in the summer.

Sent to Villarreal last summer for the season after a successful temporary spell there during the back end of the previous campaign, the Argentine was hoping to make his national team’s squad for the World Cup.

Unfortunately, he got injured just before and was unable to partake, leaving him disconsolate, and simply eyeing a possible return to Tottenham when the season ends, as explained by Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish outlet look at the midfielder and his options, pointing out that Antonio Conte is no longer the man in charge at the London club.

Because of this, an exit from Tottenham that was once ‘taken for granted’ might no longer be on the cards depending on the plans of the next manager.

Therefore, Lo Celso’s future is ‘more open than ever’ and it can change ‘from one day to the next’.

Should someone like Vincent Kompany take over, then the Argentine ‘would fit perfectly’, and this means a long-term future at Villarreal could be off the cards.

Furthermore, any purchase of the player would have been dependent on them qualifying for Europe, which isn’t exactly a guarantee at this stage.

Something to keep an eye on.
