Sampdoria ‘dream’ of signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks this summer, according to claims from Italy.

Newspaper Il Secolo XIX (via Tutto Mercato Web) writes that the Serie A side have already made contact with Spurs director Fabio Paratici for the transfer. Club official Daniele Faggiano, who’s said to be a friend of Antonio Conte, reportedly reached out to the manager as well.

The report claims Winks has been ‘put out’ of Tottenham’s plans for the new season, and that’s one of the reasons for Sampdoria to believe the signing is feasible.

However, Il Secolo XIX claim it’s ‘almost impossible’ that the Italian club could get it done. The reason is that even though Winks ‘will leave London’, his priority is to stay in the Premier League.

The story claims there’s ‘no shortage of offers’ for the Tottenham player, so he’d choose another English club before agreeing to negotiate with Sampdoria. That’s why the Serie A side already have other options on the table, keeping contact in place for the signing of Gonzalo Villar from AS Roma.
