While Moussa Sissoko has played a lot more for Tottenham and fought his way back into Didier Deschamps’ France squad, his spot of guaranteed starter under the former Juventus manager has changed.

According to Le Parisien, 10 of the players set to start the game against Bulgaria this week are already known, but the France national team manager is stuck on the 11th man, and he has three to choose from, including the Spurs midfielder.

The duo Griezmann-Giroud is set to continue, while Mbappé is set to play down one of the wings, leaving the other free.

This is where Moussa Sissoko could come in, on the right hand side, with Paris the Saint-Germain prodigy down the left, except there’s also Thomas Lemar and Dimitri Payet to choose from.

The pair tend to play better on their favoured left hand side, meaning Mbappé would have to switch wings, which isn’t a problem, since that’s where he plays with his club.

It’s a bit of a conundrum for Deschamps, but Payet seems to be the favourite at the moment due to Lemar’s fitness issues (only came back from injury last week) and the fact the Tottenham man missed the last call-up.

We’ll have to wait and see, but it seems Deschamps could move away from his ‘teacher’s pet’ in favour of playing more attacking players in a game they need to win.

However, once a lead has been established and the second half is halfway done, that’s when we could see Moussa Sissoko come in.

Barring any injury, it seems the Spurs midfielder will play, he just might not start.
