It’s been a confusing summer for Tottenham Hotspur fullback Sergio Reguilon, who, after many rumours about his future, should stay at the London side for one more season.
Spanish outlet AS today features a piece with a headline saying that ‘half of the Premier League’ have been interested in signing the 25-year-old this window.
The report recalls that at the end of last season, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte told Reguilon he did not count on the player for the future. That opened up many possibilities for the Spaniard, who had several admirers.
Those clubs only wanted him on loan, and Spurs director Fabio Paratici would only let him go on a permanent move. That ended the chances of English sides, while the chases from Barcelona and Sevilla didn’t develop either.
It turns out Reguilon ended up running out of options, and according to AS sources, people close to the player now confirm that he’s staying at Tottenham for at least another season, even though he wasn’t even called up by Antonio Conte for Spurs’ first games in the Premier League.
