Tottenham Hotspur fullback Emerson Royal was interviewed this week by Brazilian Youtube channel Camisa 21, and turned out to have a very entertaining conversation with interviewer Bolívia.
On Friday, we already covered quotes in which the player talks about his work with Antonio Conte and Nuno Espírito Santo, bringing a few details of his work with each of his managers at Spurs.
Emerson also answered a few questions about the opponents he’s been facing in the Premier League, which brought Arsenal and Chelsea into the chat. The first one was about the hardest team he’s faced so far, and the response was Chelsea.
“I think Chelsea. We played against Chelsea here, their coach is very smart too,” Emerson told Camisa 21.
“In the first half we were superior in some parts of the game. The second half came and he put a little engine there called Kante. That’s when the game totally changed. Chelsea are a team that attack very well and defend very well.”
When quizzed about the player who impressed him the most in England, he went for one of the Blues’ stars.
“Lukaku. My God. Very strong, very strong, very smart.”
With Palmeiras looking to face Chelsea in the Club World Cup final, Emerson doesn’t think the Brazilian side stand much of a chance.
“To play the 90 minutes with Chelsea’s intensity, it’s a little difficult.”
Emerson was also questioned about the North London derby, asked if there’s a different atmosphere at that game. He recalled Spurs’ 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium back in September, and claims that his side could’ve won that match.
“In this game, I started on the bench. We took 3-0 in the first half. Then, during the break, the coach called me. It was 3-1, we had a ball on the post and we lost two chances face to face. It was a game that we could still have won.”
