On Friday morning, the Portuguese media reported Tottenham Hotspur offered Juan Foyth to Benfica during the negotiations for Carlos Vinícius.
Even though Spurs are only spending €3m to sign the striker on loan, the Eagles said they were not interested in the Argentine defender, as they have other priorities for this window.
Now it seems Foyth continues to be offered around, because according to claims from Catalonia today, Barcelona also had the chance to sign him.
Mundo Deportivo reports the Camp Nou side told the representatives they’re not interested in his signing at the moment.
The outlet says Barcelona and Tottenham had been in talks earlier in the transfer window, as Foyth could have been involved in a swap with Samuel Umtiti.
That move never happened, and the clubs got in touch again, this time only to exchange information about the Argentine international. It’s claimed that Foyth was in Barcelona’s list of potential signings, but not in the highest positions.
The Catalan side are said to be focused on signing Eric Garcia from Manchester City, and Foyth is now expected to join Villarreal.
