The French media have quite understandably spent some time building up a case for Moussa Sissoko’s Tottenham exit. With their allegiance falling on the side of Sissoko, and with Didier Deschamps having the player as his pet, not too much time is spent criticising the midfielder for his Spurs failure.
Now it’s been almost completely establised that Sissoko will be looking for a new club, the question turns to… where?
In that context, quizzed on whether he’d return to Ligue 1, Sissoko said: “Even if everyone knows that I prefer England, I have never closed the door to the French championship. We will see if there are offers, but Ligue 1 remains attractive. We saw this year with the PSG and Monaco but also with teams like Nice, Lyon or Marseille. We will analyse everything in a magnifying glass and make the best choice.”
Sissoko may much prefer the Premier League option, but, given how publicly Everton were stood up last summer in favour of Tottenham, it would 
be a surprise if Ronald Koeman was willing to try and charm him again. After a disastrous season for the player personally with Tottenham, his reputation, at least in England, has nosedived.
Sissoko doesn’t think Tottenham will put barriers in the way of an exit, that they ‘wont cause any problems’ despite having paid €35m for the player.
It’s almost unthinkable that Everton would provide Tottenham with their money back, and Sissoko finding a new club may not be the smooth ride he seems to expect.
