Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has been restricted to a substitute role at Tottenham Hotspur this season, managing 66 minutes of action from three league games.
On Tuesday, the Denmark international told the media in his country that he’s held talks with Ange Postecoglou over his restricted game time at Spurs and insisted he’ll continue to respect the manager’s decision.
Ekstra Bladet have relayed that and also the claims made in the UK about the Tottenham player being approached by a Saudi Arabian club.
The newspaper explains that they are aware the midfielder received a ‘very financially attractive’ offer from an unnamed Middle East side this summer.
When asked about the ‘possible future’ in Saudi Arabia, the 28-year-old neither confirmed or denied an approach.
“I am looking forward to the match against San Marino,” he said.
The former Southampton man’s lack of game time after Postecoglou’s arrival at Spurs saw him linked to Atlético Madrid, Manchester United and Fulham.
Despite the difficult situation at Tottenham, Ekstra Bladet say state Højbjerg is a ‘safe bet’ for Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand and will have an ‘important role’ to play against San Marino and Finland in the European qualifiers this month.
