Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro has made three appearances for Spain since making his debut in 2021.
La Roja manager Luis de la Fuente has included the right-back in his squad for the two matches against Denmark and Serbia this month.
Porro has impressed at Tottenham this season and Marca wants him to replicate his club form for Spain.
Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal’s absence due to a serious injury has led to an uncertainty of who could replace him in the national team. Porro has an opportunity to fill that void.
Marca have also analysed his performances for Spain so far. The Tottenham player made his debut in Spain’s 2-1 win over Georgia in March 2021. They say he ‘experienced a nightmare’ against Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who scored for his country.
The former Sporting man also struggled in the friendly defeat to Colombia earlier this year, which was his last appearance for Spain.
De La Fuente knows the former Sporting man well from their time with Spain U21. He has now opened the national team’s door for Porro, who has to replicate his Tottenham form, to cement his place.
Porro is ‘back with a mission’ and needs to repay De La Fuente’s faith by impressing for La Roja.
