Earlier on Monday, we covered the latest breaking news in Holland regarding Ajax Amsterdam’s attempts to sign Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn.
The Dutch side are keen to bring the Dutchman back to Holland this transfer window, selling David Neres in the process, and a bid was made.
Ajax were said to have put £15m on the table, which Tottenham swiftly rejected, but there was an expectation that Marc Overmars would return with an improved offer.
This is now the third attempt from the Eredivisie side to bring Bergwijn to their club, previously challenging Spurs for his signing in 2020, before turning up again in the summer with a loan offer, which Fabio Paratici wasn’t keen on.
De Telegraaf report this is the reason why the Tottenham player’s agent Muy Manero is keeping ‘silent’ about everything, and it’s pointed out that the forward ‘will only officially think’ about a move ‘if there is an agreement between the clubs’.
Third time lucky for Ajax? We’ll have to wait and see
