Harry Kane wanting to leave Tottenham Hotspur resulted in reports from the Italian media linking Dušan Vlahović to the north London club in the summer.

Daniel Levy was reluctant to let Kane leave and, in the end, he decided to continue at Spurs.

Vlahović, who was also a target for Atlético Madrid and Manchester City, ended up staying at Fiorentina.

After 21 goals and two assists last season, he started this campaign on a bright note, with five goals in four matches across all competitions. Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have not forgotten about the Serbia international.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the Premier League club plan to make a ‘new assault’ to sign the striker. It’s said the Serie A star is the ‘number one goal’ for Spurs next season.

A potential deal next summer won’t be easy for Spurs since Fiorentina are negotiating to extend Vlahović’s contract and this has been confirmed by the player himself.

“I have said several times that I decided to stay because I felt like it, also for the group that was created with the coach – he said after the success in Bergamo,” Vlahović was quoted as saying by La Repubblica.

“We will see at the end of the year if it was the right choice, I think so because I listened to my heart.

‘I have to keep working hard, the rest will come. Renewal? We are talking, I can only say this.”
