Recent reports from the Italian media have been claiming that Tottenham Hotspur are engaged in talks for the signing of Atalanta defender Christian Romero.
Spurs seem to be raising their bids for the 23-year-old as they try to convince the Serie A side over selling him, and claims have been saying there’s ‘confidence’ that a deal will be agreed.
Now according to Calcio Mercato, the London side have an alternative in case they don’t manage to get their priority target.
The outlet writes that Fabio Paratici could then move to another name on his list, which is Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.
The website points out that Milenkovic is more expensive than his defensive partner German Pezella, but still, has a price tag that Spurs could afford. His value has actually been dropping, and according to the story, he’d cost only €15m this summer.
Fiorentina could lose one of their defenders in either scenario. Because in case Tottenham sign Romero, then Atalanta would go for Pezella. And if Spurs fail to get their first option, then they could change their sights to Milenkovic.
