Tottenham are paying the entirety of defender Sergio Reguilón’s wages during his loan spell with Atlético Madrid.
That’s according to El Partidazo de COPE, who cover the defender today as he nears a return for the Spanish club.
He’s yet to feature since arriving on loan from Tottenham, having returned to Spain with an injury that he is yet to recover from.
COPE report, via journalist Antonio Ruiz, that Reguilón is ‘finalising his fitness’ for his return to competitive action after missing his eleventh consecutive game against Real Betis.
He’s started to work at the same pace as his teammates, with Atlético having accepted a loan deal from Tottenham despite knowing he was suffering from pubalgia.
They also agreed to the deal because Tottenham are paying all of Reguilón’s wages during the loan deal, with Spurs having decided that they did not want the defender to be left ‘standing still’ after his injury.
Reguilón was ‘happy to leave’ for the Spanish side and will now be hoping to get his chance once he’s back up to full speed.
