Ayoze Perez is expected to leave Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, if reports are to be believed.
Earlier this month, we relayed news from Italy that Inter Milan and Napoli are keen on the 25-year-old, and he would prefer to join Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
CalcioNapoli24 once again relays the Spaniard was a target for sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli for several months, since then he’s ended up in the sights of Tottenham Hotspur.
It’s now claimed the Magpies star is ‘one step away’ from sealing the transfer.
Erik Lamela, who has struggled this season, will be offloaded and the Tyneside club’s attacker is expected to replace the Argentine at Spurs.
The north London club’s offer to Newcastle is around €28m, but Mauricio Pochettino’s future will be ‘decisive’ because the former Southampton manager is an admirer of the player.
He tried to bring Perez to London three years ago, but the approach was turned down.
Though CalcioNapoli24 says the transfer is ‘one step away’, they are also suggesting the Newcastle forward prefers to make a switch to Italy because Perez is convinced he’d do well in Serie A… but then Perez seems convinced he’d do well anywhere.
With Tottenham’s latest interest in the Premier League attacker, it should be seen if Perez will join Spurs or Napoli.
The Italian website are claiming this as an exclusive. They speak to agents daily and that will likely be where the claim has originated. Whether that means the claim is true, or an effort to flush out other interest, isn’t clear.
