On May 7th, Tipsbladet reported Tottenham Hotspur sent a scout to watch FC Midtjylland’s clash against Brøndby, without mentioning the details of the players they were specifically looking at.
Bold now state the north London club had their eyes on Brøndby star Yuito Suzuki.
It’s further claimed Tottenham, VfB Stuttgart and Ajax are the three clubs that sent their officials to watch the 22-year-old for the second time in the past few weeks.
On Wednesday, Suzuki scored the winner in Brøndby’s 1-0 win over FC Nordsjælland, and officials from Tottenham, Stuttgart and Ajax were all in attendance to take a closer look at him again, after following him live against Midtjylland earlier this month.
The German club had sent their head of football, Thomas Henning, to Denmark. Operating as a striker and an attacking midfielder, he’s managed 10 goals and nine assists from 29 games this season.
The Japan international joined Brøndby last year and his deal lasts until 2027. Bold state his ‘price can explode’ after several European teams took notice of his fine displays this season.
The outlet questions how much he will be worth for Brøndby, who ‘will find it difficult’ to hold on to the star if there’s a big offer. Bold aren’t clear, but ask if it’ll be €15m, €20m, €25m or more.
Brøndby manager Jesper Sørensen is aware of other clubs keeping close tabs on Suzuki.
“I understand that others come and look at him. Because I also like to look at him,” he said.
When asked if he’s worried about losing the player in the summer window, Sørensen explained: “I’m not worried about that much. The thing I worry about right now is how we will win against Silkeborg on Sunday. I have to say, I also think he’s good. Everyone can see that he can do something extra. I am happy that he’s at Brøndby and can understand if others are also fond of him.”
