The Portuguese press won’t give up on Adrien Silva to Tottenham, despite there being pretty serious doubts about the claims from the beginning.

O Jogo take things a step forward on Friday and report a Tottenham official met a Sporting counterpart last week and put forward an offer, one which didn’t please.

Tottenham are said to have offered €20m plus a further €5m in bonuses, which falls short of Sporting’s desired €30m.

The Spurs official had travelled to Lisbon, according to O Jogo, but the offer has left Sporting ‘far from pleased’. Tottenham were told the price is €30m, and now an extra desired €5m in bonuses has popped up from nowhere.

Tottenham are said to be considering Sporting’s demands for the 28 year old.

Of course, we don’t buy one bit of this. Tottenham wouldn’t be considering a €35m deal for Adrien Silva, they’d just say no. But it is clear, and has been repeatedly reported in Portugal, that the midfielder is a player Sporting would sell, so perhaps the Spurs rumours have provided a marketing tool.

If Mauricio Pochettino wants him, he must be good… that kind of thing.
