There’s yet another Argentine update on Juan Foyth to Tottenham Hotspur, and things are turning out just the way many Spurs fans would expect them to.
Despite original Argentine reports stating that Tottenham had offered $10m for the player, El Dia say it turns out only $7m of that was upfront, with a further $3m based on Foyth meeting objectives over the period of his contract.
An initial payment of $7m works out at £5.4m and it’s not quite what Estudiantes are looking for, therefore the potential transfer has been delayed. If it had been the full $10m offered in one go, then it’s possible Foyth could have already arrived at Tottenham.
The Argentine club are waiting to see if others will beat the Tottenham offer, with interest from Inter Milan, and another unnamed Serie A side. The latter club could be AS Roma, with the Giallorossi linked in the Italian media.
Tottenham still have the greatest chance of getting a deal done, but another potential issue is that their offer arrived via an agent, rather than directly.
A senior, but unnamed, Estudiantes source is quoted as saying: “That we need to sell will not force us to give Juan Foyth away as a gift.”
