The idea that Tottenham could sign Clément Lenglet is picking up pace in Spain.

Earlier on Wednesday, we covered a story claiming the player was very close to joining Spurs, which is now being backed up by other outlets.

Take Sport, for example, who report the Frenchman ‘must decide this week’ and has ’48 hours’ to answer Tottenham.

Barcelona are hoping he gives a positive one, as Xavi told the player ‘he would not have minutes’ in the project going forward, and a move to Champions League playing Spurs would certainly benefit him.

Marca, however, go one step further, claiming Lenglet ‘says yes’ to the move to Tottenham and is ‘one step away’ from hearing to London.

The deal would be a loan, with all that’s missing being the final details about how the wages will be paid.

Talks are ‘very advanced’, with a move to Tottenham a ‘priority’ after he placed the Premier League club ‘as his main option’.

Regarding the wages, Barcelona would obviously like their English counterparts to take on all of the player’s salary, but Spurs would prefer it if the Catalans contributed in some shape or form.

That’s the ongoing discussion holding up the move, and the La Liga club ‘would like to close the operation before next Monday’, which is when Lenglet would normally show up for preseason.
