Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Maurizio Sarri since not long after Jose Mourinho was shown the exit.

In April there were claims from Italy of frequent contact between Spurs and the Italian, with a move to London see as a real possibility.

Sarri had initially been expected to take up a role at AS Roma, shunning Premier League chances through a preference to stay in Italy given the current world situation. Obviously concerned about how Covid-19 will develop, Sarri seemed reluctant to leave his own country.

Roma then surprised everyone and appointed Mourinho, with the Italian media then suggesting Sarri would need to have a rethink. There aren’t any obvious openings for him right now in Serie A, even if a surprise return to Napoli has been mentioned.

TMW now report that Tottenham is the ‘hottest possibility’ for the manager, with Arsenal also a chance depending on what happens with Mikel Arteta.

Despite that, the claims don’t show any signs of a Spurs effort for Sarri advancing right now, and the situation hasn’t changed much over the past week.
