Earlier this week, reports coming out of Italy explained Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are showing interest in Roger Ibañez.
Spurs are keeping an eye on the AS Roma player, while the Magpies have showed concrete interest in the 23-year-old.
Tottenham and Newcastle wanting to sign the centre-back this summer is discussed by Il Messaggero.
The report states the Serie A side will have to bring in at least one new player in the heart of defence, if Ibañez or Marash Kumbulla were to leave this summer. Therefore, Roma have identified Feyenoord’s Marcos Senesi and Bologna’s Arthur Theate as targets.
Ibañez and Kumbulla enjoy the trust of their manager, José Mourinho, but are attracting interest from other clubs. The former has received sirens from the Premier League, where Antonio Conte’s side and the Tyneside club are tagged.
It’s claimed both Spurs and Eddie Howe’s side have ‘sounded out’ the Roma defender and are ‘ready to offer’ €30m for his signature. At the moment, Roma have not received any official offers for the player.
Ibañez has an €80m release clause and the report states; ‘that [release clause] blocks the boy from market attacks and was put in place precisely to avoid losing him at figures considered negligible by those who sell [Roma].’
