First wanted by Leeds United and then by Inter, Nahitan Nández is now high up on Tottenham’s list of players they want to sign before the end of the transfer window.
It came a bit out of nowhere, but with Nuno Espirito Santo wanting to play a particular way, a player of the Uruguayan’s ilk would go a long way to strengthening his squad.
The latest update on the matter comes from Gazzetta dello Sport via their live transfer blog on Thursday, who explain that Fabio Paratici has ‘particularly focused his eyes on Nández’ and negotiations with the Serie A side ‘continue’.
However, it’s clear the €36m of the transfer release clause will not be reached, and the likeliest option could be that Cagliari end up receiving €5m ‘for the one year loan alone’.
That would simply be a paid temporary spell with no purchase clause, but if Nández were to perform in England, then the Italians would have an in-demand player return, allowing them to get their sale.
One thing is certain, though, and that’s the player ‘absolutely does not want to play for the third consecutive year with the Cagliari shirt’ and is therefore very open to a move to Tottenham.
