Placing Ryan Mason in charge until the end of the season at Tottenham, Daniel Levy gave himself a bit of time to find the right man to rip up everything José Mourinho had done at Spurs.
That, however, has been harder than first thought, with the reported favourite in Julian Nagelsmann going to Bayern Munich.
Levy has made it clear in a letter to the fans what he’s looking for, and there are doubts as to whether Simone Inzaghi, one of the managers also linked with a move to London, ticks those boxes.
Nevertheless, the Italian press love a good rumour, and while Corriere della Sera don’t outright mention Tottenham, they do hint at interest from Spurs in their article on the situation on Friday.
They explain that ‘an intermediary friend of Simone is working on the operation, but his priority continues to be Lazio’.
Because of this, ‘unless an unmissable offer arrive from London and the surrounding area, the manager intends to stay in Rome’.
With only Crystal Palace and Tottenham looking for a manager this summer in the English capital (unless Arsenal move on from Mikel Arteta), it’s fairly obvious who the newspaper are talking about, meaning Levy has been warned: pay up or miss out.
