Despite being rather active on the transfer market this summer, Tottenham have yet to sign a new director of football after they parted ways with Fabio Paratici.
Daniel Levy has been doing a lot of the negotiating himself, which has led to some drawn out sagas, like the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.
That being said, Tottenham haven’t given up their search, with AS Roma’s Tiago Pinto still an option for them, according to Calciomercato.it.
The Portuguese is said to be ‘highly appreciated’ at the London club, and they ‘have not let go’ since the enquiries they initially made during the spring period.
In fact, the interest is mutual, as a move to Tottenham would be a ‘welcome option’ for Pinto next season, meaning 2024-25, but there is an issue.
That’s because the Premier League side want their new man to start his job after the current transfer window, in September, which is why the links with recently dismissed Mateu Alemany make more sense.
Calciomercato.it state that ‘it seems difficult to hypothesise an early farewell of Tiago Pinto at Roma’, but we must all remember that you can ‘never take anything for granted’, especially when Tottenham are showing ‘such a concrete interest’ in the Portuguese director.
