Every transfer window, regardless of how well he is playing for Tottenham, Moussa Sissoko will be linked with some club around Europe, and this summer was no different.

One of the big stories in Turkey was Fenerbahce’s alleged interest in the France international after former Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli was handed the Turkish club’s transfer reins.

As you’ll be very aware since he’s in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad nearly ever week now, the transfer didn’t happen, much to everyone’s joy at Spurs, as the 29-year-old is finally showing what he can really do.

Earning himself a return to France squad, the midfielder sat down with Foot Mercato at Clairefontaine on Tuesday, where one of the question was about the incessant rumours surrounding his future.

He said: “I feel good at Tottenham. I’m settled. It’s all going well. I’m with my family, they feel good. I think that’s the most important. You can say that every transfer window, my name is discussed, but I’ve always been fine in my head. That’s what’s important. There will always be whispers, but when you’re strong mentally, when you know what you want, there’s no need to overthink anything.”

With a contract keeping him at Wembley/Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until 2021, there’s certainly some security there for Sissoko, who knows his future should be in London for the foreseeable future.

Then again, as he explained, things don’t always go to plan: “If I say I’m going to stay a long time at Tottenham, it would be a lie. If I say I won’t, it’s also a lie because everything goes quickly in football. I can say no and the next day something happens, the club want to sell me or I want to leave.

“I take it day by day. For now, I feel good there and that’s what’s most important. I just try to continue to grow and progress. We’ll see what happens in the future. My head isn’t anywhere else.”

That will be a relief to Tottenham fans, having witnessed a rejuvenated Sissoko over the past few weeks, who, since recovering from his hamstring niggle, has started the last five games, of which Spurs have won four, and picked up one assist.
