Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso will be ‘one the most desired’ players in the summer transfer window after rediscovering his form in Spain.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the Argentine is ‘feeling like a player again’ under Unai Emery at his new club.
Lo Celso joined Villarreal on loan until the end of the season, having struggled for game time under Antonio Conte at Tottenham this season.
They were happy to ship him out in the winter window to free up space to sign Rodrigo Bentancur, a player it is felt is a better fit for Conte and his style of play.
It’s a move that’s worked out well for all parties so far, with Lo Celso enjoying life back in Spain and rediscovering the kind of form that made Tottenham sign him in the first place.
ED explain that he is ‘feeling like a player again’ after his ‘irregular’ period with Tottenham, and the player that ‘everyone fell in love with’ at Real Betis is beginning to emerge once more.
Indeed, Lo Celso’s return to La Liga ‘could not have been better’, with the midfielder establishing himself as a regular and earning praise for his performances to boot.
With the ‘full confidence’ of Emery and the ‘good game’ he is showing, there are ‘more than a few fans’ who want Villarreal to pursue a permanent deal if they can.
That’s something the player has addressed, insisting his future will be looked at when the season comes to an end.
Estadio say ‘in principle’ he will have to return to Tottenham, but his ‘continuity’ at the club does not seem likely and he will be ‘one of the most desired’ players in the summer transfer window.
That’ll suit Tottenham, who could be presented with an opportunity to get some of their money back and put Lo Celso’s failed move in the rearview mirror.
If not, they’ll at least be getting a better player back than the one they shipped out in January.
