Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has given an exclusive interview to ESPN Brasil this weekend. The 20-year-old spoke to reporter João Castello Branco about the team’s frustrations from last season and all the hopes of winning the Premier League title this time.
“Yeah, we were disappointed the way it ended but there are a lot of positives from last season. We just have to build on that and make sure this season is better than the last”, said the midfielder, who finished the league with ten goals and eleven assists.
Asked about the fans’ song which says he’s cost them £5m and is better than Özil, the player didn’t want to disagree with it: “I enjoyed the song, it’s a good song”, he said. “The fans seem to enjoy it as well, this is what’s important.”
As he was speaking to the Brazilian TV, Alli couldn’t avoid commenting on his recreation of Ronaldinho’s famous goal against Chelsea in 2006.
The Tottenham midfielder only scored in his third chance, proving it wasn’t any easy. “I was happy to participate. It was a fantastic goal and I tried to make a little bit of fun of it.” Asked if the wiggles were difficult to imitate, he admitted: “Yeah, that was the hardest bit of it.”
Alli played in all of Tottenham’s Premier League and Champions League matches this season. The midfielder has three goals in twelve appearances so far.
